Check a web image for a Google SynthID watermark from its right-click menu, then view the result beside the image.

SynthID Detector is an independent third-party extension. It uses synthid.com through your existing signed-in browser session. When you choose to check an image, that image is uploaded to Google's synthid.com service for processing. This extension is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or Google DeepMind.

HOW TO USE
1. Sign in to synthid.com with your Google account in the same Chrome browser profile.
2. Open a supported webpage and right-click an image.
3. Choose “SynthID Detector.”
4. Wait for the result card to appear beside the image.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Check individual images without manually saving them and uploading them on the website.
- Read the result in the original page, including confidence information when provided by synthid.com.
- See prompts for sign-in, inconclusive results, unavailable quota, or errors.
- Use the extension interface in English or Simplified Chinese.

UNDERSTANDING THE RESULT
This extension checks for SynthID watermarks; it is not a detector for every AI-generated image. “SynthID not detected” does not prove that an image was created without AI. A result may also be inconclusive or indicate possible editing. The extension displays results supplied by synthid.com and does not independently verify them.

REQUIREMENTS AND LIMITS
- An internet connection and access to synthid.com are required.
- Checks use your synthid.com account's available quota and are subject to the service's availability and terms.
- This version supports images only. It does not check video, audio, or text. Common raster formats such as JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF are supported; unsupported vector formats such as SVG cannot be checked.
- Some protected, restricted, or inaccessible images cannot be downloaded. Chrome internal pages and other pages that prohibit extension access are not supported.
- Checks are processed one at a time. Website changes, network delays, or account restrictions may prevent a result.

PRIVACY
An image is fetched and submitted only after you choose the extension's right-click menu item or select Retry. The extension processes the selected image, its source URL and derived file name, and the service's result to complete the check. The extension uses your existing synthid.com login session; you do not enter your Google password into the extension.

The current extension has no developer-operated upload server, analytics, or advertising code. Its session storage holds a temporary work-tab identifier, not an image or result history. Google processes submitted images under the terms and privacy notices shown by synthid.com. Submit only images you are permitted to share with that service.
